application as a single host entry.

To configure discovery settings:

1. From the Discovery menu, select Modify Settings. The Discovery Settings dialog

box appears.

2. Define the discovery properties you want.

3. The CIM credentials group can be used to set the default CIM credentials which

will be used by default to connect to all the ESX hosts that are managed through the

CIM interface.

 Protocol: The http or https protocol can be used to connect to the ESX hosts. The

default port numbers used for http and https are 5988 and 5989 respectively.

The port number will change automatically according to the protocol selected.

The user can also manually change the port number. Since, by default, the

HTTP is disabled on sfcb in ESXi host, you should use HTTPS to communicate

to the ESXi host.

 User name: The user name field contains the username with which to connect to

the ESX hosts. By default this will be ‘root’

 Password: This password field will contain the password of the user name

which will be used to connect to the ESX host.

 Namespace: Namespace is the namespace of the emulex provider.

For ESX/ESXi 4.1, the namespace is ‘root/emulex’.
